Christina Applegate talks 'Anchorman 2,' watching Steve Carell's 'genius' before he was famous
The highly-anticipated sequel "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" brings together all the originals cast members from the first film, and star Christina Applegate says the break between the two movies will be apparent.
"It's a lot of the same people, and it's 10 years older," Applegate says with a laugh while appearing on CBS' "The Talk" on Thursday (Nov. 14). "But 10 years wiser. 10 pounds heavier, but it's fine. That's what you'd expect. It's really fun, it's really funny. When you go into it, just turn off your brain and enjoy the silliness."
Applegate also reminisced on what it was like filming the first film, back before her costar Steve Carell was well-known. "It was just a blast. It was such a supportive environment," Applegate says. "Paul Rudd would come and knock on my dressing room door and go, 'It's time to go watch Carell.' Because that was the thing, at the time Steve Carell wasn't really known, but here we were in the midst of genius. So we would go and watch him do his thing. And also Melissa McCarthy, we knew were in the midst of genius with her too."
"Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" hits theaters on Dec. 20.
