Claire Holt joins 'Vampire Diaries' spinoff 'The Originals': A family reunion is in the works!

tvd-403-rebekah-mirror.jpgBest. News. Ever. Fan favorite "The Vampire Diaries" guest star Claire Holt has signed-on to join the spin-off, "The Originals," as a regular cast member, joining her remaining TV brothers Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies in the series. Perhaps Rebekah and Klaus will mend their troubled relationship in New Orleans?

"The Originals" will begin as a backdoor pilot airing as the April 25 episode of "The Vampire Diaries." If fans catch on, it will likely go to series in the fall of 2013, with executive producers Julie Plec and Michael Narducci at the helm.

This marks the second time that Holt and off-screen BFF Phoebe Tonkin have starred in the same series. The two grew close as castmates on the Australian mermaid show "H2O: Just Add Water." Though they didn't share scenes in "The Vampire Diaries," we're looking forward to Rebekah and Haley teaming up on "The Originals."

Last month, Holt joked, "I would just despise working with Phoebe Tonkin, because she's no fun at all! Listen, I haven't read the script yet; I don't know what's going to happen ... Nothing has been decided, right now, or confirmed. That said, I adore Joseph and Phoebe and I think that any show that they're in is going to be unreal, and it's really great to start it off with the fan base of 'The Vampire Diaries.'"

The news was first reported by THR.
