Carrie Underwood took the stage at the 2013 CMT Music Awards with a different motivation than most. While the night was light and fun, Underwood took the time to pay tribute to the recent victims of tornadoes in her home state of Oklahoma.

She performed her newest single, "See You Again," while images from the aftermath of the tornadoes lit up a video screen behind her. As the song hit its climax, Underwood was joined by the choir from Nashville's Christ Church.

After rehearsing the performance earlier in the week, Carrie said she was excited about what the choir brought to the song. "They just kind of take it to a whole ethereal place."

During the performance, the contact information to donate to the Red Cross was shown on the screen, to help further the relief effort for those affected by the storms.

After her performance, Underwood was also awarded Video of the Year for "Blown Away."
