Comcast's Steve Burke replaces Jeff Zucker at NBC Universal

steve-burke-getty.jpgJust two days after Jeff Zucker announced he was stepping down as the head of NBC Universal, the company has announced that Steve Burke will be taking Zucker's place, according to The Wrap.

Burke is the chief operating officer of Comcast. He will take over as the CEO of NBC Universal once federal regulators approve Comcast's $30-billion proposal to control NBCU, a deal that has been in the works since December 2009.

Burke will oversee the NBC-owned USA network, Bravo and Universal Studios. Comcast will bring E!, the Style Network, the Golf Channel, VERSUS, G4 and numerous regional sports networks to the table. Burke has been with Comcast since 1998. Before joining the cable giant, he worked for Disney as president of ABC Broadcasting.

The official announcement from NBC Universal is expected later Sunday (Sept. 26).
