'Community' gets Betty White for season premiere

Betty-White-red-carpet2.jpg Betty White will continue her run of media ubiquity with a guest spot on "Community" this fall.

White, who has a regular job on TV Land's "Hot in Cleveland," will guest-star on the season premiere of the NBC comedy. She'll be playing a respected "but slightly unhinged" professor of anthropology named June Bauer.

(Insert "Hot in Greendale" joke here.)

"Community" will take all the help it can get this fall. It will face comedy competition from "The Big Bang Theory," which is moving to Thursdays from Mondays on CBS, as well as "Bones" on FOX and ABC's new drama "No Ordinary Family" (plus "The Vampire Diaries" on The CW).

For those of you keeping score, the past year for the 88-year-old White has included a scene-stealing role in "The Proposal," a highly talked-about Super Bowl ad for Snickers, her Facebook-fueled "Saturday Night Live" hosting gig, guest appearances on "30 Rock" and "The Middle" and her "Hot in Cleveland" role.

We're assuming an ambassadorship or U.N. envoy position is coming anytime now.
