'Community': Six seasons and a movie reportedly being discussedAdd to Favorites | Community
Could "Community" Season 5 just be a lead-up to greater things?
Harmon certainly thinks so. In a recent interview with HitFix, Harmon makes it clear that he's all-in when it comes to more "Community."
"If they do a sixth season, I have to participate," Harmon says. "And having done that, if the movie has to be made out of clay and duct tape in my basement, then that's how the movie will be made, because there has to be closure. The title of the book about the show is not 'Community, An Interesting Journey into a Show No One Ever Watched.' The title of the book is obviously going to be, 'Six Seasons and a Movie.' So it's already over. Sometimes our hands are just tied up in fate."
Creatively then, the show's future into six-seasons-and-a-movie territory seems to be secured. But what about Sony (which produces the show) and NBC (which co-produces and airs it)? According to TVGuide.com, insiders there are actively pursuing possibilities.
For the movie, there's already talk of directors. Justin Lin (of the "Fast & Furious" films) also directed several episodes of "Community" and is reportedly a possibility. Former "Community" executive producers Joe and Anthony Russo ("Captain America: The Winter Soldier") are also mentioned.
But what about a Season 6? Again, the talk is positive: A final, 13-episode season is a definite possibility on NBC. If not on NBC, there are apparently plans at Sony to shop more episodes to a digital platform like Hulu.
First mentioned as a throw-away joke in the "Community" fake-clip show, "Paradigms of Human Memory," the "six seasons and a movie" quote originally applied to "The Cape," a show loved by Abed. "The Cape" is long since gone, but "Community" looks ready to live on.
