O'Brien cracked his head while taping a stunt for Friday's show, according to multiple news reports. He was taken to a hospital for examination, bringing the taping of the show to an end. NBC aired a repeat instead.

O'Brien is expected back at work on Monday. Based on a statement from O'Brien that NBC released, the injury must not have been too serious: "Last thing I remember I was enjoying the play with Mrs. Lincoln, and the next thing I knew I was in bed being served cookies and juice."

Friday's scheduled guests were "Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher, "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane and musical guest Rodrigo y Gabriela. There's no word on whether they'll be re-booked for a future show.
