'Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey': President Barack Obama to introduce FOX special

The FOX special, "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey," just got a whole lot more epic.

President Barack Obama is set to introduce the series premiere episode airing Sunday (March 9), the network announced on Saturday (March 8). 

Obama's video message will air before the premiere episode, in which the POTUS will invite a new generation to "embrace the spirit of discovery and inspire viewers to explore new frontiers and imagine limitless possibilities for the future."

More than 30 years after the debut of "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage," Carl Sagan's exploration of the universe as revealed by science, Seth MacFarlane teams up with Sagan's original team of writer/executive producer Ann Druyan and co-writer, astronomer Steven Soter for a new 13-part series that kicks off this Sunday (March 9) at 9 p.m. ET on FOX, National Geographic Channel, FX, FXX, FXM, FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Mundo and FOX Life.
