'Cougar Town': Busy Philipps rips ABC's treatment of her show
TBS is reportedly interested in picking up the comedy if ABC decides not to renew it for a fourth season. Philipps, who plays Laurie on the show, says she'd welcome the change.
"It has not been fun to feel like the ugly stepsister of the network," Philipps tells E! Online. "They moved us around, they took us off the air for months. I do feel a little disappointed in how they've treated the show. "If TBS is willing to launch the show in a real great way and we would actually have like billboards and commercials, that would be really cool."
The reports have TBS interested in picking up two 15-episode seasons of the show, which would push it into syndication territory for ABC Studios, which produces it. "If it really happens, it's kind of going to be like best-case scenario for all of us," Philipps says.
We'll find out if the show has a future on ABC on Tuesday (May 15), when the network announces its schedule for 2012-13. TBS and TNT have their upfront the following day, but a deal might not come together that quickly.
