Courteney Cox opens up about David Arquette: 'I'm his biggest protector -- I can't help it.'

Something seems a bit off about the Courteney Cox cover of April's issue of Harper's Bazaar. Maybe it's the extreme close up, maybe it's airbrushing or maybe it's the fact that her hair looks completely separate from her head. But at least the interview has some valuable nuggets.

Speaking with the magazine, Cox gets very candid about her public separation from husband David Arquette, including his behavior on Howard Stern in 2010.

"You can't really get mad at David because he's not a malicious person," she says. "He was dealing with things the best way he could. And don't get me wrong, he was on a show for entertainment. David is smart, and David is also a showman. He knew what he was doing."

And that apparently means exercising a bit more caution when talking about their marriage. "I don't think he'll be doing more Howard Stern any time soon," she says. "He's not out to harm. But I'm his biggest protector. I can't help it."

Cox joins her husband's recent declaration on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in appearing optimistic about the couple's fate.

"We loved each other so much, and if anything I feel like we've been extremely successful at marriage," she says. "If it doesn't work out, I will have huge waves of pain about failing in that department. But right now I don't have that because I don't know what the future holds and I guess because I have strong feelings for him."
