'Covert Affairs,' 'Royal Pains,' 'Necessary Roughness' join the USA pickup party
"Covert Affairs," "Royal Pains" and newcomer "Necessary Roughness" were all renewed Thursday (Sept. 15). They will join "Burn Notice," "Suits," "White Collar" and "In Plain Sight" (which is in the midst of a two-season order) back on the cable channel's schedule next year.
"USA's original programming blew through all expectations this summer. We had an unprecedented number of original series on our air -- and every single one of them was great," network co-presidents Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel say in a statement. "... It's a rare and wonderful thing to announce the pickup of our entire summer of programming."
The only USA series that aired this summer and isn't returning is "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," which had previously announced this season would be its last. "In Plain Sight" will air its final season in 2012.
"Covert Affairs," "Necessary Roughness" and "Royal Pains" each received 16-episode orders.
