'Cowboys & Aliens' to premiere at Comic-Con

cowboys-and-aliens-superbowl-promo.jpgComic-con has officially arrived. The once indie fan boy/girl fest held in San Diego annually that has become increasingly mainstream in recent years (which miffs diehards) will host the world premiere of the highly-anticipated summer blockbuster "Cowboys & Aliens."

The movie is set for a July 29 nationwide release and stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in a sci-fi/western crossover about gunslingers who make a stand against aliens who attempt a takeover of the Old West.

"The worldwide premiere of 'Cowboys & Aliens' will be at Comic-Con," director Jon Favreau tells the Los Angeles Times. "And not only are we going to premiere it there, we're going to find a way to include as many of the fans as possible. I feel like they've come out for me, they've supported me."

Favreau's directing credits include both "Iron Man" movies -- big-time fan favorites at Comic-Con, fans capable of generating the buzz needed to push anticipation for a movie from ho-hum to hyperdrive.

"[Comic-Con's] where it all started, and I want to give back," Favreau said. "They should have the opportunity to see it first."

Trust us, Jon, the fans will love you for this.

On Sunday, Favreau debuted nine minutes of footage from the movie at the Hero Complex Film Festival.
