She refers to herself as " Cynthia Bailey, supermodel," which could turn off some people, but she's telling the truth. Bailey has graced magazine covers and is exquisite.
Bailey is also calm, which has a leavening effect on Bravo's The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Slender at 5 feet 10 inches, she wears clothes beautifully.
"I describe my style as I am not the label girl," Bailey says. "I don't have the next Prada, the next Gucci. Being in the industry for so long, I get it. I would never be in one thing head to toe."
"My own personal style is a mixture," she says. "I love vintage. I love nothing better than a Chanel sweater with H&M jeans and a pair of Converse and a Prada bag and call it a day."
Though Bailey used to enjoy shopping, the hunt doesn't thrill her anymore. For department stores, she likes Barneys and Neiman Marcus.
For vintage clothes, she checks out Salvation Army stores. And she has done some online shopping, such as a recent pair of Uggs for her 10-year-old daughter. Bailey also goes to Target to shop.
"I don't have a lot of patience like I used to," she says.
Still, she enjoys dressing up, and for evening wear her top choice is Valentino.
"I also like some of the cooler people, too," Bailey says. "I love a lot of the up-and-coming guys. Rubin Singer is a new designer. I love getting to the guys before they completely blow up and (everyone) wears their things."
When she needs to be in a suit or business attire, Bailey wears Donna Karan and Michael Kors. Both designers specialize in staying classic with a current edge. She also loves Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses and tops.
Lately, Bailey has been wearing black tights with everything, and when she wants a deeper hue - and because she's usually cold - she layers the black tights.
Her go-to outfit includes a black turtleneck. She prefers Club Monaco, Gap and H&M turtlenecks with black slacks by Zac Posen. She also loves "a great pair of boots," and hers are Louboutins and Giuseppe Zanotti. She tops the outfit with a Calvin Klein blazer. "And you can't go wrong with Calvin Klein slacks. Nine West do great knockoffs."
If there's one fashion statement Bailey avoids, it's fussiness. "I'm not a girlie girl, so not a lot of flowers and patterns. You wouldn't catch me in a Betsey Johnson."
Anyone can attain her look, Bailey says, if she keeps her clothes basic.
"When it comes to my fashion," she says. "I can do Gap, and I can do Chanel, and I think that is what makes my fashion relatable and more interesting."
