"Da Vinci's Demons" Season 2 has a premiere date, as announced Friday (Jan. 10) by Starz CEO Chris Albrecht at the TCA winter press tour. New photos and a trailer for the upcoming season were released at the same time.

Premiering on Saturday, March 22 at 9 p.m. ET, "Da Vinci's Demons" expands its world greatly for the second season. While some of the story still takes place in Florence, Da Vinci ( Tom Riley) and some of the others will travel the world -- they could even end up in South America.

The show's executive producer, David S. Goyer, explained why the show was expanding so much this time around. "The first season was the setup," he explained during the "Da Vinci's Demons" panel. "And now all of the engines are running and it's a little more complicated."

When asked whether Season 2 would begin where and when the finale left off, Goyer was frustratingly cryptic: "Yes and no. We definitely throw the audience a curve." How that works may partially be explained by another bit of mystery information: "The structure of the second season is not necessarily linear."
