'Dance Moms' Season 4b will feature both teams; 'Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition' not returning yet

abby-lee-miller-dance-moms-season-4-lifetime.jpg "Dance Moms" took a dramatic turn in Season 4 when studio owner Abby Lee Miller brought in a second competition team to her studio. She tells Zap2it how it all came about and that the new team of girls will continue to be featured in Season 4.

"What I was suggesting [to the network] was that we go around the country and do four mega-conventions, workshops, masterclasses that I do anyway on my own," says Miller. "I wanted to cut all of that in and do it bigger, on a grander scale, to find the next cast of  'Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition.' ... But when ['Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition'] got put on hold for me to do this new show, 'Abby's Studio Rescue,' we decided that because all the plans were made, we needed to use the kids for a new team, so that's how that happened."

When Season 4b begins shooting, "both teams are going to be here some of the weeks," Miller continues. "Some of the weeks it will be me going up against Cathy. Some weeks it will be the original team and I might bring in a kid from the new team to dance with them."

The one thing we won't be seeing later this year is the return of "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition." Miller explains that due to the competition nature, it isn't as success overseas as "Dance Moms," so it is on hold for now. Miller will launch "Abby's Studio Rescue" on Tuesday, June 17 on Lifetime.

Meanwhile, Miller continues to expand her repertoire, donning the hat of music producer for Mackenzie Ziegler's debut video and album.

"All of the music on Mackenzie's album is very empowering," says Miller, "and I even do a guest spot on one of the songs. It was so interesting to do that and learn about the recording industry. Every day on this job I learn something new."

Information about Ziegler's album, "Mack Z," can be found here. It debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes pop charts. "Dance Moms" Season 4b returns later this year.
