'Dancing With the Stars': Bristol Palin has 'nothing to lose'

dwts-finale-bristol-ballas.jpgBristol Palin has been known for careful, clean dancing throughout this season of "Dancing with the Stars." (Well, that and death threats and conspiracy theories, but that's unpleasant, and we're here to have fun.) On the Nov. 22 season finale, Palin decided to let loose when she and Mark Ballas chose to perform the rock week tango.

When they first performed the routine, the duo was docked a point for breaking the traditional tango hold and "rocking out." Mark was hesitant to break the hold again, but Bristol made an executive decision because that was the head-banging, air guitar-playing moment where she felt she really came alive as a dancer. Plus, as she noted, they had "nothing to loose" this week.

Um, except for that trophy, but we admire her winning-isn't-everything stance.

So rock out she did, whipping her hair hard enough to make Willow Smith proud during the guitar solo of Orianthi's "According to You." The performance received an 8 from Bruno, who referred to her as "Bristol the fighter. Carrie Ann said she was "consistently surprised" by Bristol's progress, and also gave her an 8.

Len compared Bristol with competitor Kyle Massey. "He's got the wow and you've got the how," Len says. "It depends what you like." Apparently, Len likes the how -- because he gave Massey an 8 and Bristol a 9.

Watch their first shot at the tango, from week 6, below. Did they make the right call to break the hold again?
