'Dancing With the Stars' front-runner Brandy: 'Being humble is the best way to be'
Brandy, for one. The highest placing contestant for two weeks running has met all of her positive feedback with her mouth agape and tears in her eyes.
So why isn't she more confident in her clear ability? When Zap2it caught up with the singer after her performance on rock week, she told
"Dancing has never been one of my strongest points," says Brandy, "but I'm working really, really hard. I'm adjusting to listening and lead and following Maks."
Following someone else's lead may not come easy, but keeping her ego in check does. "This is all so surreal," she says of her continued surprise at her success. "I want to stay in this zone because I don't want to get too in my head and then not be able to perform well. I think being humble is the best way to be."
One person who may not share that sentiment is partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who knows Brandy has the stuff. "This isn't a fluke," he says. "It's something we worked for. She gets rewarded for the time she puts in it. I'm not saying we're working harder than others, but I believe in her talent and ability."
That talent and ability should help her sail through the Oct. 26 elimination show, where pretty much everyone else seems like fair game.
