'Dancing with the Stars': Hines Ward and Kym Johnson's perfect Argentine Tango and Salsa

dwts-hines-kym-0516.jpg"A long way from Friday, my friends," said host Tom Bergeron as Hines Ward and Kym Johnson completed their first dance of the "Dancing with the Stars" semi-finals.

Johnson just got a doctor's clearance just Monday (May 16) morning after suffering a neck injury on Friday in practice. Apparently a weekend of recuperation and rehearsal in a neck brace worked, because she and partner Hines Ward totally nailed their Argentine Tango.

Emotion was clearly close to the surface for the partners, who were both in tears at the end of the routine. In fact, judge Carrie Ann Inaba was blubbering, too, saying, "The connection was beyond what we asked for in a partner team and the dance was stunning."

Bruno Tonioli agreed, though his analysis was a lighter on emotion and heavier on the heat: "Every emotion was out there for the taking," said Tonioli. "The battle of wills between the man and women. It was like good sex. You never want it to end."

Although Len Goodman joined his colleagues in giving the team a perfect score, his comments were less than insightful. He mainly talked about being "in the club watching the whole story unfold" and compared Kym to a prostitute. It's okay -- it was meant as a compliment.

The couple earned what we believe is the first perfect score of the season.

Next up, the Salsa.

Would Hines and Kym be able to keep up their momentum? Last week's leaderboard-topping couple -- Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas -- danced hot on their heels, scoring a perfect score of their own in the evening's second round.

The judges were generous in their praise -- Len "loved it" and Carrie Ann gushed, "I can't even explain how much joy I get when I watch you dance" -- and their scores, again giving Hines and Kym a perfect score, setting them up for the Winner Takes All Cha Cha round with a leading score of 60 -- where they came up just short of Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas in the final round.
