'Dancing With the Stars': Kirstie Alley compares show to persistent suitor, talks Broadway dreams
Zap2it caught up with the actress after her appearance on the casting special, and she shared her interesting analogy for why she finally caved.
"I think every year," she says of the times she's been asked. So why now? "It's sort of like a guy who keeps asking you out on a date. You say, 'No, no, no, no,' but then you think, 'He's so tenacious. All right, OK, I'll sleep with you.'"
So there you have it. Kirstie Alley is giving it up for "DWTS." But don't think she doesn't expect a little something in return.
"I want to do Broadway, really," she tells Zap2it, "and I don't think they're going to hire me to do a musical just automatically. But once they see my stellar dancing... I might even sing, though I don't recall seeing anyone sing on 'Dancing With the Stars.'"
Yeah, they tend to frown on that. Not that Kirstie cares. "I might try. What are they going to do? It's live."
For now she's just focusing on the steps and one key element that she learned on day 1. "I literally thought I was going to die," she says of her first rehearsal. "I was dehydrated. You've got to drink a lot of water."
