Kirstie Alley rejects any notion that she hasn't been watching "Dancing With the Stars" this season because of Leah Remini.
'There's no fact to that," Church of Scientology member Alley tells Zap2it of Remini, a current "DWTS" contestant and former Scientologist. "I have made no statements [about that] and said nothing, so anything that anybody thinks they've heard is totally made up. That doesn't have anything to do with me not watching it.
"I even went on record about six months ago saying I didn't think I was going to watch it this season, just because of the time commitment."
Besides the long hours she's been working as an executive producer as well as the obvious star of the TV Land sitcom "Kirstie" -- premiering Wednesday, Dec. 4 -- Alley has another reason for not following "DWTS" this time: the absence of Maksim Chmerkovskiy, her partner in both Season 12 and the "All-Stars" Season 15 of the ABC contest.
"Next season, maybe Maks will be back, and maybe I'll watch," she says. "You do the show with someone, and you're loyal to that person. Then you watch and see them dancing with someone else, and you might be like, 'I don't like the person they're dancing with.' But it doesn't matter, because you have to stay loyal. I can't be rooting for Derek [Hough] if Maks is still in it."
Even when Chmerkovskiy isn't on "Dancing," Alley stays in touch with him, and she notes the two of them have "a very funny relationship. We are just crazy. I guess that's what happens when you get very crazy people together."
