Menounos and Hough.jpg"Dancing With the Stars" contestant and TV host Maria Menounos wants you to know that she's a "strong Greek," as she says in the week two introduction to her quick step with partner Derek Hough. She's dancing with two broken ribs.

Zap2it spoke to the couple at the taping where Hough told us, "We tried to keep it under wraps because we didn't want to be that couple, especially coming out of the gate, because it happened a week before the cha cha. She's been keeping it cool. She's dealing with a lot, but we just want to smile and dance."

He says it happened during rehearsal when Menounos fell on his knee. Ouch! She tells us, "I was already on pain killers since I'd already ripped the muscle off the bone a couple days before that."

Hough is trying really hard to keep people from hugging her, since it hurts so much. "It's hard not to hug her." Menounos says that Hough is amazing, getting her through the pain. "He says, 'You're going to do this! You're amazing! Are you ready?'" He's the greatest cheerleader. I knew when I got him at as a partner that I was really lucky."

"Dancing With the Stars" returns on Tuesday, March 27 with the first elimination round of the season on ABC. Watch Menounos and Hough dance the quick step below.
