'Dancing With the Stars': Melissa Gilbert says childbirth is easier than the Quickstep

melissa-gilbert.jpgNo one ever said "Dancing With the Stars" was an easy gig. Hours and hours of practice go into each dance. There are high heels, glitter and lots of sweat and tears. In fact, "Little House on the Prairie" star and "DWTS" contestant Melissa Gilbert says that the Quickstep is harder than giving birth.

Yikes! Gilbert tells People, "I didn't want to use the extreme statement just yet but honestly, this is one of the most vexing, frustrating things I have ever asked my body to do. Childbirth is easier."

She says, "If it feels really unnatural and contradictory to all the rules of logic and science." Gilbert was lower on the leader board after the premiere of "DWTS," so this may not bode well for her in the second week. She has, however, so far managed to get along really well with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. That isn't always easy, from what we've seen in the dancing packages. Gilbert says, "I absolutely adore Maks and don't want to let him down. I'm hoping that with the costume, makeup, hair, lights and audience, I will rise to the occasion."

"Dancing With the Stars" returns for it's second week on March 26th on ABC.
