'Dancing With the Stars': Nicole Scherzinger, Evan Lysacek tie for top spot
Scherzinger earned her straight tens for her Argentine tango, which also got high praise from the judges:
Bruno Tonioli: (poetic, per usual): Nicole, you were like a divine enchantress, using each move to draw us deeper and deeper and deeper into a love spell from which there is no escape, enslaved by you, enchanted by the dance!
Carrie Anne Inaba: I have to say ... you brought me to tears.... What you're doing is incredible."
Len Goodman: All I can say is, and this is the best compliment I can ever give, it was more delicious than my grandmother's apple pie."
Straight 10s and rave reviews, even though her partner Derek Hough complained of a neck injury earlier in the week during practice. Nicole's cha-cha also got the thumbs up, although Goodman's distaste for her nontraditional solo at the top of the dance earned her a nine, giving her a score of 59 out of 60 for the night.
Lyasacek's straight 10s came in his second dance, the paso doble, for which he was praised for his "strong" and "powerful" movements. Although his foxtrot received the more colorful comments:
Goodman: "We saw a completely different side, the happy go-lucky, fun side. And I thought that was absolutely wonderful!"
Tonioli: "I think you were as high as a kite out there! Talk about sparkly with a capital 'S' ... I haven't seen something like that since Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney!"
(At which point Tom Bergeron adds: "You haven't seen something like that since you looked in the mirror, basically."
Inaba: "I completely felt the connection to you tonight."
Goodman also handed out Lysacek's only nine of the night, putting him equal with Scherzinger with a 59 out of 60. It's definitely looking like a showdown between the pop star and the Olympic champion ... who do YOU think will win the Mirrorball trophy in next week's season finale?
