'Dancing With the Stars' Nicole Scherzinger: Len Goodman wants 'botafogos,' not 'sexy moves'

nicole-scherzinger-samba-320.jpg Nicole Scherzinger's sexy samba might have gotten Carrie Ann Inaba to shout "Opa!" and Bruno Tonioli to exclaim, "watching you makes [one] dribble with desire" -- but leave it to Len "the Grinch" Goodman to be a big ol' funburglar.

We know Len Goodman is a stickler for technique. The hard-to-please judge has sternly scolded Scherzinger and partner Derek Hough for breaking the rules for the sake of "performance" before, and Monday (April 26) night had the dancing duo experiencing a deja vu moment.

Goodman accused Scherzinger of having "ugly legs" (referring to a sloppy kick move) and said overall it "was a hodgepodge of sexy moves and gyrations" -- and in Goodman's book, those are dancing no-nos. But perhaps our favorite criticism of Scherzinger's samba was her disturbing lack of "botafogos."

What, you ask, is a botafogo? Yeah, we didn't know either. Got to love Google.

We discovered that a botafogo is a move found in many sambas -- it's essentially a traveling walk with a change of direction from left to right or right to left. And Goodman certainly was dismayed that Scherzinger and Hough's samba had "not one botafogo." The nerve.

And no botafogos evidently meant no stellar score from Goodman. While Inaba and Tonioli handed out a nine and a ten respectively, Goodman gave a seven.
