"Dancing with the Stars" Season 18 sent home the first finalist on Monday (May 19) evening: James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd were the unlucky, eliminated couple.

The elimination of James and Peta came after two near-perfect dances, the tango and the freestyle. With the couple scoring 29 points for each, James and Peta landed in third place for the evening, behind Meryl and Maks (a perfect 60 points) and Amy and Derek (59 points).

With the couple of Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas coming in last (scoring only 51 points when their freestyle and quickstep scores were combined), they did seem the couple most likely to go home. Fans, however, came through for the former "Full House" star. When it came down to the final two couples, James and Peta were the ones who went home.

Was it the right elimination? Are Meryl, Amy and Candace the right dancers to go into the final night on Tuesday? Who will win now that James has been eliminated?

All of the answers will come when the "Dancing with the Stars" finale concludes on Tuesday night.
