There's always way more happening on the "Dancing with the Stars" results show than just eliminations. For week 5, Selena Gomez performed, we learned a little about next week's team dances, and many dance performances stunned. Here are the highlights from the night that brought us the phrase, "Team Pickler-Dick."

Selena Gomez and the bindi take the stage

The big musical event of the "DWTS" night was a performance by pop superstar Selena Gomez. She performed "Come and Get It" off of her new album. Interestingly, Gomez wore a bindi as part of her costume, as she had done during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday (April 14).

What's the problem with Selena wearing a bindi during her show? Although Gomez undoubtedly just wanted to evoke Bollywood style, the forehead jewel has far more significance to many in India and around the world. "The bindi on the forehead is an ancient tradition in Hinduism and has religious significance," Universal Society of Hinduism leader Rajan Zed said in a statement. "It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed. Selena should apologize and then she should get acquainted with the basics of world religions."

Gomez has not commented. Considering that she chose to wear the bindi again, she probably isn't too concerned about the complaint.

Space disco?

The show started off on a weird note with a monochromatic space dance of sorts. The dancers were definitely supposed to be astronauts or aliens or ... Anyway, they were on another planet. Funky lighting and lasers also brought up thoughts of "TRON."

Let's just say that Len Goodman had a very confused look on his face at the end.

Stevie Wonder anticipation

"Dancing with the Stars" is hosting a single artist to provide all of the song choices during the week 6 performance show. That would be Motown legend Stevie Wonder. Considering how often the artist has been mentioned this week, it had better be a good night.

But it's Stevie Wonder. Of course it will be good.

Encore jive

Even though Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy were the high scorers on Monday night, the judges decided to give the encore dance to Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff.

You can't deny that it's a fun dance -- what with all the leaping and splits and all.

The Band Perry

They weren't as headlining an act as Selena Gomez, but The Band Perry gave a rocking performance of "Better Dig Two" with a dancing accompaniment. This is a really good song.

Len Goodman channels Willy Wonka

In an oddly edited and very enthusiastic video, "DWTS" judge exhorted the world to dance. Did I mention it was enthusiastic?  Because it was. I kind of felt like I was watching that trippy scene from the Gene Wilder "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" movie. You know, the one in the boat with all the flashing lights.

It was a little like that. Only there was no candy -- just dancing.

Team dances and songs announced

Next week, "Dancing with the Stars" will have team dances, led by the two highest-scoring couples Zendaya & Val and Kellie & Derek. While the teams won't be announced right away, we got dance styles and song choices. One team will dance a paso doble to "Higher Ground" while the other will have a samba set to "Superstition."

Although he did not know his fate at that point, Andy Dick said he wanted to be on Kellie's team. Why? Because he wanted to be on Team Pickler-Dick. That joke was worth it if only to hear Brooke Burke-Charvet scream "You can't say that!"

He did.
