All is fair in love and race cars, right? That has to be the mantra Ricky Stenhouse Jr. hoped to be true after Sunday's Coca-Cola 600. Stenhouse was very close to fellow racer, and his girlfriend, Danica Patrick when he bumped up against her, sending her into another car, piloted by Brad Keselowski. Neither were harmed in the wreck.
While Stenhouse was able to continue on, the wreck ended the race for Patrick and Keselowski, Fox Sports reports. "I'm all right," Keselowski said after the crash, "I didn't know we were three-wide, dude." Initially he took the blame for the crash, saying he cut Patrick off and apologizing to her.
Upon replay of the wreck though, it became clear what actually happened. Neither Stenhouse or Patrick have addressed the accident. However, Ricky noted on Twitter he and Danica were grilling on Memorial Day. Stenhouse finished the race in 14th place.
The event also wasn't without a bit of drama in the stands, after a cable supporting a camera fell, injuring 10 spectators and damaging six cars.
