David Arquette opens up to Oprah: 'I had my first drink at 4 years old'
"The break up, the public breakdown, the intervention and rehab," Oprah Winfrey says in the promo for tomorrow's (Feb. 24) episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show." We're pretty sure you can guess who her guest is: David Arquette.
The "Scream 4" actor, who is sober now, is set to appear on the show to talk about his recent troubles, including his split from wife Courteney Cox, his battle with alcohol and his recent stint in rehab.
In a shocking confession, Arquette reveals the very first time he drank. "I must have been four years old," he says. "I was down in the basement with my dad and the beer was there and I just grabbed it and drank it. I remember that. It's one of my earliest memories."
He adds that he seriously started drinking when he "was about 12" and that he stole pot from his father when he was eight years old.
The actor also described the intervention his family, friends and Courteney staged. "I came back from Miami and I had taken a nap and I woke up and [sister] Patricia and Courteney were at my bed. I was like, 'What are you two doing here together?'"
He continues, "my best friend was there, my business partner and some guy I don't know, and I go, 'What up turkeys? I guess this is my intervention.'"
