David Barton's 'Jefferson Lies' interview on 'The Daily Show'

David Barton is a minister, a conservative activist and a founder of WallBuilders, a Texas-based group that seeks to prove the U.S. constitutional separation of church and state is a myth. His most recent book is "The Jefferson Lies" and he appeared on Tuesday night's (May 1) "Daily Show" to talk about his book.

Host Jon Stewart goes toe-to-toe with him for quite some time. The actual broadcast portion of the interview ran the usual 5-6 minutes, but the full interview, which can be found online and is embedded here in five parts, ran nearly 23 minutes. This is Barton's second appearance on the show - his first interview ran almost 40 minutes and can be found in its entirety at Jefferson Madison.

In this second interview, Barton and Stewart discuss Thomas Jefferson, who Barton claims was not the secularist that historians and constitutional scholars believe him to be. They also discuss whether or not Christians are persecuted in this country right now, which the Christians really feel like they are.

In the online-only things, they move on to discussing prayer in public places, the Blunt amendment and religious protection in the workplace. It's a fascinating interview and worth a watch if you have 25 minutes.
