David Letterman welcomes Denzel Washington in face of Hurricane Sandy
Letterman rather hilariously read his monologue jokes aloud to the band (and an empty theater) to kick things off. You can watch a clip here that CBS released. Other highlights include:
- "This storm could mean the biggest power outage since the Yankees."
- "The storm has stopped the presidential campaign, so at least some good has come of it."
- "I'm no safety expert, but if I were at home, I'd be boarding up my television."
It was so unfunny it came back around to being funny again. There was also a Top 10 list of rejected names for the hurricane in lieu of "Frankenstorm." They are as follows:
Power Outage Palooza
The New Hurricane Loco from Taco Bell
Letterman didn't get "iPaddle" at first, which we thought was the funniest one.
As far as guests go, Letterman's scheduled guests of Denzel Washington and musician Paul Banks were both in the studio, so other than no real audible laughs, it was much like every night of "Letterman."
Or maybe it was exactly like every night of "Letterman." BOOM! Roasted.
