David Tennant's new series 'Broadchurch' to air on BBC America in 2013
Written and created by frequent "Who" writer Chris Chibnall, the series focuses on a small community thrust into the media spotlight by a major murder investigation.
Tennant stars as a detective new to the town and paired with a "compassionate local" played by Olivia Colman ("Hyde Park on Hudson"). The cast also includes Vicky McClure, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and Will Mellor.
Darvill, who recently wrapped a run as Rory Williams on "Who," co-stars as the town priest.
"We're proud to have cast an outstanding array of Britain's finest performers to appear in Broadchurch," executive producer Jane Featherstone said in a statement announcing BBC America's acquisition. "The drama is a snapshot of modern Britain. Its community represents a microcosm of life as we know it."
