The "Wet Hot American Summer" prequel that David Wain and Michael Showalter have been dreaming up for more than a decade is still a reality. After first being promised over a year ago, Wain continues to work on the film, which will be set prior to the 2001 cult comedy and star the same cast.

"The prequel continues to churn along. It is happening. We are working on it," he tells Zap2it at an event for "Children's Hospital" and "NTSF:SD:SUV::'s" season finales. "It's a big project and we want to do it right and we have that huge cast and it's going to be awesome. We might actually have an announcement in the next month or so."

Stars like Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Amy Poehler are all 12 years older, but don't expect their age discrepancies -- they've physically aged, but are playing younger versions of their characters -- to be addressed in the movie when it comes out. Wain says the plan is just to commit to that absurd aspect of the comedy and go with it.

"We're just going to do it. It was in the first movie too, so now it will just be even more, 12 years more of a joke," he says, adding that he's just as excited as everyone else to see the finished product.
