Daytime Emmys 2012: ABC and 'General Hospital' lead the nomination pack

tony-geary-gh-abc.jpgThe Daytime Emmy nominations were announced on Wednesday (May 9), and it was a great day for ABC. The network topped the list with 56 total nods. It was closely followed by PBS with 51.

The soap "General Hospital" helped lead the way for ABC. The program secured 23 nominations including for Outstanding Drama Series. "Sesame Street" and "The Young and the Restless" tied at 16 nominations each.

It was also a fond farewell for the two recently canceled soaps "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." The daytime dramas both secured 11 nominations.

The 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held June 23.
