Deadliest-Catch-Josh-Harris-Phil-Harris-Jake-Harris-crop.jpgOne of the most enduring and popular storylines on Discovery's crab-fishing drama "Deadliest Catch" has taken yet another turn.

Fans of the late Capt. Phil Harris, his sons Josh and Jake, and their boat, the F/V Cornelia Marie, have watched father-son drama, the grief of the sons at the loss of their father in early 2010, Jake's battle with substance abuse, and Josh's new fatherhood and ultimately successful bid to gain ownership of the Cornelia Marie.

But in a Facebook post today (Saturday, Sept. 14), Josh Harris revealed news that will disappoint many fans, writing:

"So to all my fans that watched the show, Deadliest Catch, the Cornelia Marie was not optioned this year so we regretfully will not be on the show anymore. Thank you for all the support we will still be fishing. Things may still get filmed but most likely not through Discovery. Sorry to let people down, things with Discovery couldn't meet up with what we needed, so I apologize to all but this is where we are but this is where we are. There may be another company this year that we go with but for now we will just fish. Jake and I love you for all your support over the years and most of all from the old man, thank you for everything!"

Contacted for comment via text, Harris said, "Just wanted to say thanks to all and to stand by 'cause I have plans up and coming."

Zap2it contacted Discovery for comment but was told no statement will be made at this time.

Filming resumes this fall on "Deadliest Catch" with the opening of king-crab season; new seasons of the show traditionally premiere in April.
