'Deadliest Catch' star Elliott Neese missing from Season 9 premiere (VIDEO)Add to Favorites | Deadliest Catch
Season 9 of "Deadliest Catch," the Discovery Channel's extremely popular reality show that chronicles the lives of crab fishermen in Alaska, debuts on Tuesday, April 16 with an episode titled "Mutiny on the Bering Sea."
But one cast member is conspicuously absent as the ships set sail for the season. Elliot Neese of the ship Ramblin' Rose is nowhere to be seen.
"In all honesty, I'm kinda not surprised Elliott isn't here this year. I haven't seen him," says Northwestern captain Sig Hansen. Scott Campbell of the Seabrooke adds, "He should be up here. He should already be to go."
"No owner's gonna let a guy run a boat and not produce. You're gonna lose your job," says Hansen.
Neese had a rough go of it in Season 8, both on the high seas and at home with Valerie Gunderson, the mother to his two children. In 2012, Gunderson got a temporary restraining order against Neese.
But according to Neese's Twitter, everything is fine, both with Valerie and on the show. He writes:
@starbuk498 nope April 16th is the premier !!! Don't miss it that's an order directly from da Captain !!!!-- Elliott Neese (@CaptElliott) April 4, 2013
@jeranblackburn things are great between Val and I best they have ever been :) !!-- Elliott Neese (@CaptElliott) April 7, 2013
Neese also talks about the film crew being there, writing, "Crew showed up today really gettin to work on the boat we have 2 months to do a total retrofit/ makeover I hope we can make our deadline!!"
But of course, that's now and the season that is about to debut was filmed in 2012. It remains to be seen if he shows up for Season 9. Tune in at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesday, April 12 on Discovery to find out.
