Denis Leary calls Dick Clark a 'leather-faced syrup-voiced lizard' person

denis-leary-dick-clark.jpg Denis Leary is a comedian known for his abrasive stand-up, which he decided to employ in his reaction to television legend Dick Clark's death.

Leary tweets, "With Dick Clark dead, Casey Kasem now reveling in his status as last and reigning king of leather faced syrup voiced lizard people."

Hmm. We've often felt that in the wake of tragic events or someone's death, it isn't so much about "too soon" as it is about "funny" or "not funny." There are usually good jokes to be made, if you look hard enough.

For example, Leary's first tweet about Dick Clark is kinda funny:  "Dick Clark dead. Okay so now I'm starting to get a little more concerned about all this 2012 Mayan s***."

And Leary also cracks some jokes in reference to the Tupac hologram that appeared at Coachella this past weekend performing with Snoop Dogg: "I'm gonna package a Dick Clark Hologram mc'ing a Tupac Hologram summer tour."

That one's kinda funny too. So perhaps Leary should have quit while he was ahead. Or maybe Leary's just jealous - he's got the leather-faced lizard person part down, but he certainly doesn't have the syrupy voice.
