Dennis Rodman heads to rehab after CNN meltdown over North Korea
Rodman traveled to the country to play a paid exhibition basketball game for Kim Jong Un's birthday, which he argues will help strengthen diplomacy between the U.S. and North Korea. When the CNN anchor questioned him about it, Rodman went on a rant.
"I'm going to tell you one thing. People around the world -- around the world -- I'm going to do one thing. You're a guy behind a mic right now. We are the guys here doing one thing. We're going to go back to America and take the abuse. Do you have to take the abuse? Well, we're going to take it," Rodman says, slurring his words and raising his voice. "One day, this door is going to open because these 10 guys here, all of us ... we're just going to open the door just a little bit for people to come here."
Rodman later blamed the outburst on drinking. "Dennis Rodman came back from North Korea in pretty rough shape emotionally. The pressure that was put on him to be a combination 'super human' political figure and 'fixer' got the better of him," Rodman's agent Darren Prince tells the AP. "He is embarrassed, saddened and remorseful for the anger and hurt his words have caused."
Now, according to Gossip Cop, Prince has confirmed that the basketball star is seeking treatment for alcohol abuse.
