Derek tells E! News that his sister is "mortified" by the negative reaction the costume she wore to a Halloween party on Friday (Oct. 25) has received. "She's so apologetic. She's so so sorry and I just hope that we can all forgive her and move on," Derek said backstage at "Dancing With the Stars" on Monday night.

He insists that his sister, who dressed as Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren from the Netflix series "Orange Is the New Black" by pairing her bright orange jumpsuit and the character's signature hair twists with dark brown makeup on her face and neck, wasn't intending to offend. "She's my baby sister and she's the sweetest thing ever," Derek adds. "She is just beyond beside herself."

After photos of the costume surfaced and the outrage over them began, Julianne took to Twitter on Saturday to issue an apology. "I'm a huge fan of the show 'Orange Is the New Black,' actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created," she wrote. "It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize."

Derek says he hopes the public will find a way to look beyond his sister's poor judgement, telling E! News, "Obviously, it wasn't her brightest moment in her life, but hopefully we can move on."
