'Desperate Housewives': Is Mark Moses the new 'Edie'?

desperate-housewives-abc-mark-moses.jpg Zap2it was the first to report back in February that "Desperate Housewives" was looking for a new "Edie" type to kick up dust in Fairview.

"We agree that [Edie] was a great person to have on The Lane," Executive producer Bob Daily told us. "The sort of vixen troublemaker. That's a great person to have on a television show."

Back then, Daily said they weren't looking for a "Nicollette clone."

"I think Nicollette was so great as that sort of blonde bombshell," Daily explained. "I think we'd probably not go in that direction again just because we've had that."

OK, so we thought she may be a brunette, another minority character or some other departure from Nicollette Sheridan.

Well, EW says they went in a totally opposite direction. The site reports the show is bringing back Mark Moses full-time next season as the new "Edie."

"We hope to add a troublemaker," creator Marc Cherry told the site previously. "But I'm not so sure it'll be a woman."

Could Mark Moses be the new "Edie" Bob Daily told us about?

Viewers will remember Moses as Mary Alice's husband, Paul, who went to prison for killing Martha Huber. He was last seen on "Mad Men" as Herman "Duck" Phillips, who helped in the takeover of Sterling Cooper.

At this time, ABC has not returned our request for confirmation.

Do you think Paul could fill Edie's high heels?
