'Desperate Housewives': Season finale smackdown

desperate-housewives-320.jpgThe regular TV season has come to a close and while some finales have got us talking more than others, we still have a lot left to say and we're guessing you do too.

So this week, we thought we'd have a little fun with it and pit your favorite show...against itself.

Yep. We've selected a few series and will compare their 2010 season ender to their 2009 season ender. We'll tell you which hour we feel was better, but we'll also have you vote on which one you think was tops.

Some ground rules before we start: as much as we love the freshman shows like "Modern Family," "Glee," etc. we can't include them for obvious reasons. And since this is a season finale smackdown, it isn't really fair to include series finales, which means shows like "Lost" and "24" won't be eligible either.

All cool? Awesome.

So, without further ado, "Desperate Housewives"...

"If It's Only in Your Head" (2009): For the season's mystery conclusion, psycho Dave kidnapped Susan and MJ to punish Mike for their car accident that took the life of Dave's wife and daughter. Mike -- who was set to marry Katherine -- discovered the video Dave left him, detailing how he would make Mike pay, and raced off to save Susan and his son. Dave's initial plan was to tie Susan to a pole and make her watch as Mike crashed his car into Dave's -- with MJ asleep, unbuckled inside. But a last minute change of heart led to Dave letting MJ go, and Mike just injuring Dave. Susan and Mike were so relieved to see MJ safe that they kissed passionately, but viewers were left wondering whether it was her or Katherine whom Mike married in the closing moments of the finale.

Meanwhile, Carlos' teenage niece, Ana, came to live with him and Gaby, Lynette found out she was pregnant with twins and Bree and Karl began their affair.

"I Guess This is Goodbye" (2010): For the season's mystery conclusion, Angie's psycho ex, Patrick, held her and Danny hostage in their own home, demanding that Angie make a bomb. After she completed the bomb, Patrick left Danny tied up, secretly hid the bomb in the house and forced Angie to leave with him. Gaby -- who had been tipped off to the situation by the message Angie left her in a casserole -- snuck into the house to free Danny. Patrick didn't take Angie far and pulled the car back around to her home, told her she had 30 seconds to save her son, then pressed the bomb detonator. Angie got out and ran towards the house, but stopped short and turned around to watch Patrick explode, as the bomb was actually in the detonator. In the aftermath of Patrick's death, Angie and her husband, Nick, went back on the run, said goodbye to Wisteria Lane and to Danny, whom they felt should live his own life.

Meanwhile, Lynette gave birth with Eddie, the Fairview Strangler, by her side. Orson left Bree after finding out how far she'd gone to keep Andrew out of prison. A broke Susan and Mike moved off Wisteria Lane as a familiar face from the past, Paul Young, returned to the street. And we learned that somebody's family has been the victim of a baby switch.

Our pick: While we actually thought both hours were really solid, 2009 narrowly won the contest for us. Patrick had more than a few screws loose, but Dave was flat out crazy/creepy/disturbed. We actually thought for a couple minutes that he might go through with his plan to kill little MJ right before our eyes. The 2009 finale also opened so many potential new storylines for our favorites characters -- with the mystery bride, the pregnancy, the affair, etc. -- and kept us guessing all summer.

Agreed? Or no?
