'Desperate Housewives': Teri Hatcher loves 'new energy,' not quitting

desperate-teri-gallery.jpgWhen a UK tabloid broke the story that Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman were planning to quit "Desperate Housewives," we had to roll our eyes - and not just because that particular rag is infamous for printing stories from false Hollywood sources. Any "Desperate" fan knows that the show has gotten a creative boost this season, and the two leading ladies would be crazy to abandon it now.

Hatcher agrees. She took to her Facebook on Sunday night to dispel the rumors... and she was not a happy camper. "There are not enough adjectives to describe how stupid, off base, and ridiculously untrue this is. 'Newspapers' should be accountable for this kind of irresponsible journalism and reckless fabrication of a story," she writes, noting that the show is a highlight of her career and that she's grateful for it every day.

She then makes a bold statement: she's sticking with "Desperate Housewives" until it's canceled.

"I have never said nor inferred otherwise. They made no effort to contact me or my representatives or the network to fact check. I am awaiting a retraction and apology at the least for mucking up everyone's Sunday with this huge, hurtful lie," she adds.

Giving credit where credit is due, Hatcher notes that Vanessa Williams has "brought a new energy to the show this year."

"I meet many people who still find so much joy in watching it and I want everyone to know I'm joyful to be involved to this day and that's not going to change," she says finally.
