Zap2it: Does your character, Valentina, evolve this in season of "Devious Maids"?

Edy Ganem: She is the romantic dreamer. She is very driven and determined. She wants to become a fashion designer and was working toward that. In the second season she becomes more independent. There is a little too much drama with her mother controlling her too much.

Zap2it: What did you do during the hiatus?

Edy Ganem: I stayed in L.A. and started doing something I really, really liked with Eva (Longoria, who's an executive producer on the show). I started going to events with her for charities and causes. I had been wanting to get involved, and I didn't know what. She got her masters in Chicano studies. And I met a man who works for advocacy, MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund), and I got to speak at one of their galas. It was a very good experience, and I want to keep doing that. Eva Longoria said, "Edy Ganem is here, and she is the next Eva Longoria." I seriously almost cried, and I said, "This is great!" And she said, "Yeah, we are changing the world."

Zap2it: How is the show different in Season 2?

Edy Ganem: We have the hang of it better. I know what I am doing. I am more knowledgeable about how it should be. I feel like I have a say. I am not being a diva.
