'Dexter' star James Remar on Season 7 and 'Django Unchained'
"You know, the best way I can speak to it is to encourage everyone to watch it because we're coming to a conclusion here. So all the stuff that's been cooking the past seven years is going to come to a head," he says. "It's all being really well addressed. It's all being looked at. We're not leaving any gaps. So their relationship is being tested. It's being bent and changed as is their personal moral conduct. It's really a runaway train at this point. It's heading down the tracks."
Zap2it chatted with Remar at the 38th Annual Saturn Awards, where he was honored with the Life Career Award on July 26.
On the Showtime series, Remar plays Dexter's dead father Harry Morgan, who continues to posthumously give fatherly advice to his serial killer son.
"That role isn't going away as far as I know. I live in Dexter's head. It's hard to get rid of me," Remar says.
Another role -- or roles, rather -- not going away for Remar is in the new Quentin Tarantino film "Django Unchained." Remar plays two characters in the film: Leonardo DiCaprio's character's bodyguard and a slave owner who is transporting Jamie Foxx's character across the land. Remar praised Tarantino, who is both writing and directing the film.
"It's like working with Da Vinci ... Quentin is the great master of filmmaking in his time. There's no one better. It's an honor to step on a set with him. I want to give my best. All the other actors want to give their best. We're on the set for long shoots and we're happy to do it ... It's a very loving set and a happy set. I can't say enough good things about it. It's like working with the Michelangelo of movie-making," Remar says.
"Dexter" returns to Showtime for Season 7 on Sept. 30, and "Django Unchained" hits theaters on Dec. 25.
