Diane Sawyer rumors about retiring not true according to ABC News
Are Diane Sawyer rumors of her impending retirement true? The New York Daily News had a quote from a "source" recently that claimed Sawyer is close to retiring from ABC, but ABC News Senior Vice-President Jeffrey Schneider has since shot the report down.
"That is not true," he says in a statement. "And had the Daily News actually asked us if Diane was considering retiring we would have told them yesterday that it wasn't true."
Sawyer's rep says that, though she has taken some time off in order to deal with family problems, the 67-year-old "ABC World News" anchor isn't planning on leaving her job any time soon. The original Daily News report claimed that Sawyer had "discussed with a few close friends and some people at ABC that she is seriously considering retiring."
"She said she'll be ready to hang it up not long down the road," the source said. "She loves work and what she does and has endless energy, but she's overwhelmed with personal problems and she is thinking about leaving to take care of her family."
