Not only is Ellen DeGeneres' celeb-packed
most retweeted photo ever
, it also brought Twitter to a grinding halt after she posted it on March 2. But did the Academy Awards host know that the social media site would go down because of her stunt? It turns out she did have some inkling.
"I thought it would crash," DeGeneres admits to
at the Governor's Ball after the Oscars. What she didn't expect, though, was the way the stars who crashed the photo shoot would ruin her already epic plans.
"I didn't know everyone would do it. What's funny is that Lupita [N'yongo]'s brother [bottom right] is the most prominent. And then Jared came running over to be in it. And Angie got it in. I didn't expect all that." she says.
Her initial plan was to simply take a selfie with Meryl Streep, but then crop the record-breaking Oscar nominee out of the photo. "That was going to be the joke," DeGeneres says. "But it doesn't matter. It was just great."
