Disney Channel's "Girl Meets World," the highly anticipated update of "Boy Meets World," has lost a character. Teo Halm, who had been set to play Elliot Matthews in the show, has been dropped from the project.

Originally, the plan had been for Cory and Topanga Matthews (the original "Boy Meets World" characters played by Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel) to have three children. Elliot was the eldest, followed by Riley ( Rowan Blanchard) -- the titular "Girl" -- while the youngest was another boy named Louis ( August Maturo).

According to TVLine, the casting change came when Disney decided to make "various creative changes" as part of bringing the show pilot to series.

Halm first posted the news on his Twitter feed on Saturday (Oct. 5):

"So guys, Disney decided that it wouldn't work to have an older brother on the show; I won't be on Girl Meets World. Thank you to everyone"

The young actor's TV mom, Fishel, was quick to post a response:

"Teo, you are an incredible talent and I adore you. You may still call me 'mom.'"

"Girl Meets World" is expected to air on the Disney Channel at some point in 2014.
