Disney Channel's 'Descendants' adds Kathy Najimy; AMC's 'Galyntine' casts Catherine Dent

- "Descendants," the upcoming Disney Channel movie about children of famous Disney villains, has added several new villain cast members. Kathy Najimy ("The Big C") has been cast as the Evil Queen, Wendy Raquel Robinson ("The Game") is playing Cruella De Vil, Maz Jobrani ("Life on a Stick") is Jafar and Melanie Paxson ("Notes from the Underbelly") is the Fairy Godmother. They join the already-announced Kristin Chenoweth as Maleficent. [ TV Line]

- Catherine Dent is headed to AMC. "The Shield" alum is the first series regular cast in AMC's new drama "Galyntine." The dystopian story is set in a future with no technology. Dent will play one of the survivors, Haven, who also has two children. Filming begins in June in Utah. [ Deadline]

- VH1 has announced a digital companion series to its scripted drama "Hit the Floor." New series "Inside the Arena" will give online viewers a new perspective on the dramas taking place on "Hit the Floor." The first episode of "Inside the Arena" will premiere on the VH1 website and app after the Monday, May 26 premiere of "Hit the Floor." [ The Wrap]

- Canadian network CTV has purchased the rights to air several U.S. series from across several different networks, including "Arrow," "Gotham," "How To Get Away With Murder," "Agent Carter," "CSI: Cyber," "American Crime," "Forever," "The Mysteries of Laura," "The McCarthys" and "The Odd Couple." - "The Pete Holmes Show" is no more. TBS has canceled "Conan's" late night companion due to its ratings. The final episode will air on June 5. "Conan," meanwhile, is renewed through 2018. [ Deadline]
