Adam Goldstein: 'I jumped through a fireball'
He remembers "fire everywhere. I tried to cover my face as I jumped through a fireball. As soon as I hit the ground, I remembered, 'Stop, drop and roll.' So I started rolling."
That presence of mind enabled Goldstein and Travis to survive the crash that killed the two other passengers and two crew members.
"I'm the luckiest man alive," an emotional Goldstein told People in his first interview since the plane crashed on takeoff at a Columbia, S.C., airport.
He's had the last of three surgeries for his second- and third-degree burns. The emotional scars may take longer to heal.
"My emotions go back and forth," he told People. "I can't believe I made it. I'm just grateful."
