DJ AM hadn't been seen or heard from for a few days, reports TMZ. Friends when to check on him and notified police when he didn't answer the door.

Police broke into the apartment and DJ AM's body was found along with several prescription pill bottles.

DJ AM cheated death not once, but twice, this past year. Last September, he and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker were the only survivors of plane crash in South Carolina that killed four others, although DJ AM did suffer third degree burns.

Then, in March, he canceled his reservation at the last minute on the Continental flight that crashed in Buffalo, NY, killing 49 people.
