D.L. Hughley and Michael Ian Black to host 'Trust Me, I'm a Game Show Host' on TBS
D.L. Hughley and Michael Ian Black will co-host "Trust Me, I'm a Game Show Host," a game show in which the two hosts duel to deceive contestants. The series comes from Mark Burnett's One Three Media and London-based Monkey.
In the series, Hughley and Black will each present a contestant with a bizarre and seemingly implausible fact. One of the facts will be true, while the other will be a flat-out lie. It's up to the super sleuth contestant to determine which host is telling the truth. If a player can prove themselves to be an ace lie detector, they'll go home with a pocketful of cash.
"This is a game show where a host is legitimately trying to convince a contestant to choose the wrong answer," Burnett said in a statement. "D.L. and Michael's comedic styles are perfect for pulling this off. The comedy itself will be must-see television."
"It's great to have D.L. Hughley and Michael Ian Black on board for TBS' 'Trust Me, I'm a Game Show Host,'" Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and TCM remarked. "They posses the comedic instincts, sharp improvisational skills, sense of fun and easygoing charm necessary to earn the trust of the contestants in this clever, one-of-a-kind game show from Mark Burnett, Will MacDonald and David Granger."
Hughley has hosted late-night talk shows for CNN and Comedy Central, as well as starring in the sitcom "The Hughleys" and 'Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." He competed on the current season of "Dancing with the Stars," as well. Black starred on NBC's "Ed" before creating two Comedy Central series with his comedy troupe pals from The State: "Stella" and "Michael and Michael Have Issues."
"Trust Me, I'm a Game Show Host" will premiere in late 2013.
